Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: The hotel is modern and our room had a great view over the square in front of the Part Dieu train station.
We were given an upgrade on arrival. Our room was very spacious.
We stayed for 4 nights.
We chose the hotel because of its location, close to our arrival train and to catch the Rhone Express tram to the airport for our onwards flight.
The old town and the two rivers are a bit walk to get to but is flat so not to bad to see all the sights. We then mastered the trams (T1) and Metro (Line 2). We did catch a regional train to Vienne for a day trip.
We did had a river cruise which we enjoyed and use the funicular to see the roman ruins and Cathedral.
We were there on Saturday 17th. We observed some of it, the large police presence, noise and smoke.
The only issue was they shut the trams and metro down and we had a 7km walk back to the hotel which we treated as our safe haven on the day.
Summary: Fanastic
